Liveness Detection
A guided selfie check that confirms a real, present person in seconds — built to stop photos, screen replays, masks and injected video.
How a check works
One selfie, analysed in real time
No gestures to perform or phrases to repeat — the user just looks at the screen and the check does the rest.
Frame
The user lines their face up in an on-screen oval — the flow guides them every step of the way.
Sequence
A short sequence of coloured light plays across the screen while a brief video selfie is captured.
Analyse
The video is analysed in real time against the light sequence it was captured under.
Score
A confidence score from 0 to 100 comes back — threshold it for pass, fail or a step up to manual review.
What it stops
Four ways to fake a face — built to catch them all
Spoofs fall into two families: attacks shown to the camera, and attacks that bypass the camera entirely. The check is designed for both.
Printed photos
A face on paper is flat and static — nothing about it behaves like a live person in front of the camera.
Screen replays
Photos or videos replayed on a phone, tablet or monitor held up to the camera.
Masks
Coverings worn to imitate someone else's face in front of the camera.
Injected video
Pre-recorded or synthetic footage pushed through virtual cameras — deepfake-style bypasses that never touch a lens.
Capabilities
Strong checks, light friction
Seconds, not minutes
One guided flow, one short selfie — most checks finish in a few seconds.
No special hardware
No dedicated hardware — a standard front camera on a phone or laptop is enough.
Tunable confidence
Every check returns a confidence score — set different thresholds for onboarding, payments or recovery.
Feeds face match
A high-quality selfie frame is returned with each check, ready for 1:1 matching against a credential portrait.
Audit images
Optional reference frames from each check — keep them for review and disputes, under your own retention policy.
Independently tested
Built on detection technology lab-tested against ISO/IEC 30107-3, the presentation attack detection standard.
Where it's used
Presence checks where fraud starts
Remote onboarding
KYC without a branch visit — confirm a live person is behind the application before the account exists.
Step-up authentication
Re-check presence before high-value actions — payouts, password resets, limit changes.
Account recovery
Pair a live selfie with a 1:1 face match to restore access — stronger than security questions.
Online age checks
Pair liveness with a credential's over-18 flag for age-gated products and platforms.
